Positive and happy parenting! How well are you doing it?
Does your daily morning start with, The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round, all through the town? And have you begun watching Coco Melon with your little one too? If the answer is yes, congrats! You’ve already taken the first step toward becoming a happy parent because you’re being part of things that make them happy!
Even when they are little, children become the biggest part of parents’ lives. You will never stop wanting to be the best parent possible for your child, and that is completely natural.
So before we begin, dear parents, let’s take an in-depth dig into the whole philosophy of happy and positive parenting!
What exactly is happy parenting?
Does being a happy parent entail supporting all of your kids’ behaviors, allowing them to do anything they want, and even supporting their bad habits? The answer is a strong “no.” Rather, Happy Parenting suggests finding a middle ground between your restrictions and liberties. You must also set a limit for both. When there is a fine balance between the two, you are definitely a contented parent with a happy and obedient kid.
Here are some tips to help you get started on your happy parenting adventure!
1) Be there for your child at all times:
No matter how many friends or close relatives your child has, no one can ever replace parents for children. Remember to try to cherish little moments with your children, to be present for all of their firsts, and to appreciate them!
This means giving your kids your whole attention whenever they need it. Your child will grin when you play with them and do fun things with them. This also encourages them to open up to you and communicate with you. You might need to put your laptop aside or take a day off of your busy schedule or office, but it will be worth it to see your child’s smile. Spending time with your child can help you develop a solid relationship with them.
2) Stop comparing and start praising:
This is one mistake that all parents make since it is not a good way to raise kids. It will only result in a demotivating upbringing for your child if you constantly compare yourself or your kids to others. This is the cornerstone, let your children know they are the best and truly a gem. Every child is unique, has varying capabilities, and is wonderful in their very own way.
3) Don’t limit children, give them freedom of choice and let them be themselves:
Allow kids to be absolutely themselves, let them choose what to wear, watch their favorite shows, experience the world on their own terms, and choose a hobby for themselves. Let your children be who they are, acknowledge that children are unique beings with their own set of individuality and characteristics, and encourage them. Empower them to think and grow on their own.
4) Set boundaries gradually:
Do you believe that enforcing boundaries will make you a terrible parent? In no way! It’s good to limit your child since, as a parent, you have the full right to educate your children to avoid unhealthy habits, so set limitations for them, but don’t be harsh, you can be gentle and friendly about it.
5) Inspire your kids:
Inspiring your child and encouraging them by telling them “Yes, you can!” is the move to happy parenting. Continue to support them. It creates an unrivaled spark in them. Let them know how much potential they have and how many chances await them. Make an effort to read inspirational material to them, make them watch motivational videos or movies, or find other creative ways to inspire them, but make sure you push them hard to fulfill their aspirations. Set a good example for your children because they are quick to copy their parents’ actions.
